There is a lot going on around here!

We are getting ready for the third grade Producer’s Fair!  The kids will be getting their local producer this morning and we will write letters letting the producers know that the kids, along with an adult, will be calling this weekend to set up a time to shadow and interview.  The dates we have set aside for shadowing are May 9, 10, 11, or any other time that works for everyone involved.  Your child will not be considered absent from school while they are on their visit.  Just send us a note regarding where they are.

The kids need to have pictures from their producer visit for the week of the 14th to make their posters.

We are also starting our Ferrisburgh turns 250 project!  Laura Socinski will be coming in this afternoon to help us start our quilting project!  Thank you, Laura!

Tomorrow is green-up day!  Thank you to the volunteers who are coming in to walk around Ferrisburgh with us.  Please be here at 12:50.  We will be back around 2:30.

The kids have compiled all of their poetry into beautiful, watercolored books!  These will go home at the end of the month!

Reminders:  Jump Rope for Heart is after school on Thursday, April 19–bring in your permission slips!

Monday, April 30, we are going the the Flynn Theater in the morning.

Friday, May 4,  is Green-Up Day at FCS!  We’d love to have some parents come in to help.  If you are interested, please fill out the form coming home on Monday, April 16.

What’s happening in the classroom besides poetry?

During read-aloud we have been reading Oliver Twist! We will watch the movie next week, and compare/contrast it with the book.  Ask your kids what they thought of this classic!

In science, we are studying pond life.  Sometime this week we will be walking to a fellow student’s home to investigate his pond.  After the break, we will start preparing for our annual FCS Local Producers Fair!

To celebrate Ferrisburgh’s birthday…anniversary?  …we are going to learn quilting!  Please bring in a shirt that is no longer wanted in your household.  It can be ripped, stained…. that’s perfect!  It’s all about upcycling!  Thanks!

Hi All!

In science we just finished up a nutrition unit.  Don’t be surprised if your children start talking about whole wheat and artificial colors and flavors while analyzing your shopping choices!  The kids also learned that they should be eating 3 cups of fruits and veggies every day!  Please point out the “natural foods” section of the grocery store to your kids during a family field trip to the supermarket!

We have started our simple machines unit, but we still need some supplies from home.  Does anyone have any duct tape, wooden shish kabob skewers, empty spools, or play dough?

Conferences begin on Thursday.  It is your choice whether or not to include your child in the conference.  All of the kids will be completing a reflection that will be shared with you during the conferences.

Report cards go home on the 15th!  Time flies!!!
